Intranodular hyperechogenic figures - case 1473 |
Clinical presentation: A 46-year-old woman noticed a lump in her right thyroid 10 days ago.
Palpation: an elastic nodule in the right lobe.
Functional state: euthyroidism (TSH 1.57 mIU/L).
Ultrasonography. The thyroid was echonormal. There was large cyst in the right lobe. The cyst seemed to be a peripheral-type lesion with an inhomogeneous solid part having numerous hyperechogenic figures which belonged to the non-specific category. There were two hyperechogenic lesions in the right while a moderately hypoechogenic one in the left lobe.
After aspirating 9 mL troubled fluid it became evident that the cyst indeed is a central-type lesion.
Cytology resulted in benign cystic-colloid goiter.
Follow-up one year later: the size of the cyst decreased the dimensions were 7x5x8 mm.
